66 minutes of conceptual sound art derived from improv sequences, field recordings and site-specific interventions, with a strong sense of re-inventing an ambient micro spaces through carefull frequency manipulation. All sounds used are previously recorded or played by the author, except for the sounds of Saturn rings taken from NASA Sounds (on the track no 4) and improv performance by a guest performer and long time collaborator Ivana Grahovac (piano, cello, tibetan bowls, wind chimes) on the tracks 1, 5 and 6.

Improv and field recordings belong to the 2017 archive, and are taken between Belgrade and Korčula island. Compilation is soon to be published on tape.

Stone Rain

/////////////////////// l i s t e n \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

The image is taken on Vrnik, tiny island situated close to Korčula town in South Adriatic. The island is historically known for its stone-marble used by stonemasons from the region during the early 20th century. Now the island is a hidden paradise with impressive abandoned query, magnificent marine life and a small village visited by few tourists in the summer season. Field recording is taken in July 2017, on the south side of the island, away from the settlements, facing chunk of an open sea facing the island of Mljet.

The scores are made of two images taken at Orlanduša bay, situated on the west side of Korčula island commonly called Defora, facing Lastovo. The small bay is steep and with white pebble beach at its very end. Textures of the boats laying scattered across the place picture particular perspective on the time flow, which is almost repealed in this hidden paradise. The bay has historical importance being the place where allies debarked in the final liberation of the island in the WWII.

Improv Gutter

///////////// l i s t e n \\\\\\\\\\\\\

Recorded April 28th 2017 near Zuce village, suburbs of Belgrade. Fantastic polyphony of rythms in resonant gutter during a mild spring rain. This particular track proposes the musical content revealed in self-generated structure by no intervention.

incubus mnemonics

Incubus Mnemonics is an ambient experiment composed solely from field recordings gathered across the period of a year spent on relation Belgrade (Serbia) - Korčula Island (South Adriatic, Croatia). Sonic contrast of the two 'so close but so far away’ places I considered my domiciles had concrete impact on development of my cognitive memory.
The idea of cognitive memory being a catalyst in individual development of psychological perception of sound brought me to a discourse where listening of environmental sound triggers complex compositional process, builds active energy transfers and sense of connection with the source of sound or sonic ambients.
Compositions are conceptualized through equal frequency manipulation carefully builded with artificial reverberation calculations that represent my psychological frame for this occasion. The tone of dark ambience refers to subconscious dynamics operating ‘under the surface’ and in own paste of time. Vast stratum of abstract memory has been approached with the sound and in particular recycled environmental sound as a 'sense' of orientation within the experience of collective interrelatedness.
Ambient on the track Seeding Shadow is built from a single field recording of a bus ride, on the route 26 from Marinkova Bara to King Alexander’s Boulevard in Belgrade.

27 miniatures

27 is a collection of miniatures conceptualized as a 27 channel sound installation. Inspired by the cycle of "waters" it represents a time lapse of artificial memories composed from an archive of field recordings used as a catalysts in compositional process.
Data in cognitive listening of the recordings are multilayered and are reflecting notions of the time, place and environmental dynamics that I further developed in to personalized narrative through various sonic interventions or simple software manipulation.

27 miniatures are windows overlooking 27 places evoking 27 complex emotions defined by synthesis of ambient atmosphere and instrumental or site specific intervention. They represent structured memories formed in dynamic interrelations of seemingly scattered elements extracted from continuous branching of sonic information. The installation is conceptualized as interactive spatial code activating different elements of the overall structure by movement in space. Dimension of random activation alludes on generally speaking vague comprehension of psychological mechanism of subconscious "materia" in constant interactivity with our reasonable resolvability.
